BISFed 2019 – Regional Open | Zagreb

The BISFed 2019 – Regional Open, was a wonderful chance to see the best Boccia athletes compete in Zagreb, Croatia.

We are proud to have been present as partners of this event, and cannot wait for another opportunity to do so.

The tournament was held at the Dom Sportova, a beautiful sports pavilion in the capital.

III Seminário FPDD

The FPDD and the Escola Superior de Desporto de Rio Maior, part of the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém will host on the 13th of December of 2018, the III Seminar of the Portuguese National Federation of Sport for Handicapped People, entitled “Knowing more to better include.”, at the auditorium of ESDRM.

The programme includes the presentation of some of the articles that will be published on FPDD’s scientific magazine.

This initiative is supported by Rio Maior’s City Hall, and DESMOR, E.M.

You may attend this event by subscription, which is free, although it is limited to 120 individuals. The deadline is the 11th of December, 2018.

BISFed 2018 – World Open | Póvoa de Varzim – Results

The BISFed 2018 – World Open, was a fantastic opportunity to see all the great Boccia athletes at Póvoa de Varzim, in Portugal.

This event was possible due to the joint efforts of PCAND and the City Council of Póvoa de Varzim.

A staggering number of 118 athletes, from 20 different countries were present, in what was the 10th time Póvoa de Varzim has welcomed the sport of Boccia and the World Open to their beautiful coastal town.

The tournament was held at the Municipal Pavilion of Póvoa de Varzim.

The BISFed 2018 – World Open, will once again be held in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal, from the 2nd to the 9th of July.

This event is possible due to the joint efforts of PCAND and the City Council of Póvoa de Varzim.

A staggering number of 118 athletes, from 20 different countries will be present, in what is the 10th time Póvoa de Varzim has welcomed the sport of Boccia and the World Open to their beautiful coastal town.

The tournament will be held at the Municipal Pavilion of Póvoa de Varzim, and you can view the calendar below.

BISFed 2017 – European Championships | Results

The BISFed 2017 – European Championships were a tremendous success!

The overall consensus between the players, fans and national teams was that the championship was extremely well organized, and it could not have been set in a better location.

The event was held in the Pavilhão Municipal, in Póvoa de Varzim, a past location for other boccia related national and international events.

Our national team had yet another great performance, even though, by each passing year, the competition is getting more and more challenging.

Here are a few of the results of our great athletes:

In the BC2 individual class, Nélson Fernandes became the European Champion, and Abílio Valente won the bronze medal, while in the team competition, in the BC4 class, Pedro Clara, Manuel Cruz and Carla Oliveira, also became European Champions.

We would also like to highlight that in the individual competitions José Carlos Macedo placed 5th in BC3, and so did Pedro Clara in BC4. We couldn’t overlook the 6th place of António Marques in BC4, and the 9th place of João Pinto in BC1.

Overall a fantastic result for our national team, considering the level of competition this year.

They will now focus on future competitions, with the goal of reaching the World Championship in 2018.

BISFed 2017 – European Championships | Póvoa de Varzim

The BISFed 2017 – European Championships will be held in Portugal, once more, in the wonderful city of Póvoa de Varzim.

The European Championships will bring over 121 athletes from 21 different countries to the beautiful coastal city.

This BISFed event will take place between the 25th of October and the 2nd of November, in the Pavilhão Municipal da Póvoa de Varzim, and will gather the very best boccia players from Europe.

BISFed 2017 – World Open | Seville – 4 Medals!

The National Boccia Team is returning from Seville, and will be arriving in Portugal today.

They have managed to win 4 medals, both in individual and colective competition.

The BC3 Team, featuring Avelino Andrade, José Carlos Macedo e Luís Silva, won a gold medal, by defeating, in the final, the English Team (Patrick Wilson, Jamie and Scott McCowan), in a tight game.

On another note the BC4 Team, composed by Carla Oliveira, Manuel Cruz e Pedro Clara, managed to win a bronze medal, against Great Britain (Evie Edwards and Stephen McGuire), with a strong result (7-1).

In the individual competition, Portugal stood strong, once more, achieving no less than 2 silver medals in the BC1 and BC3 classes.

João Pinto, the youngest athlete on the team, won a silver medal in the BC1 class, against the world number one, David Smith (Great Britain).
José Carlos Macedo rose to the challenge, once again, by winning a silver medal, in a difficult game against Grigorios Polychronidis (Greece), the world number two.

Portugal was in every podium in the BISFed 2017, Regional Open in Poznan, and equalled the previous record of medals, with an astonishing performance that led to 10 medals.
